Harry Dobkin - the new honorary president of HAc
After 12 years on the Committee with the Harpenden Arts Club, most recently as the club's Webmaster and photographer, Harry Dobkin has recently retired. He has made many valuable contributions to the smooth running of the club over the years and his humour and willingness to help will be sorely missed. But we are grateful that he has accepted the position of Honorary President of the club, which was unanimously offered to him by the Committee. Hopefully we will still see many more years of his artistic endeavours in his retirement.
ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION - 8th - 11th November 2018
The Harpenden Arts Club celebrated its 60th Annual Art Exhibition in November at the Harpenden Public Halls, which was a sparkling success and great fun!
For a review of the exhibition and photos go to the 2018 Exhibitions page:
We are a sociable and creative group of people who enjoy learning new art techniques and sharing ideas. We have over 130 members and a strong committee of nine enthusiastic individuals who, along with many willing helpers, organise and run the activities.
SOME MEMBERS CELEBRATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY
If you would like to join:
ART ON THE COMMON - 8/9 JUNE
Stong winds meant the Art on the Common event had to be cancelled on Saturday 8th June, but the sun shone on Sunday 9th! The Harpenden Arts Club had a wonderful stand at the event showcasing members work and publicising all the exciting creative workshops and demonstrations that we organise. A number of paintings and greetings cards were sold, and a good many interested people took away membership details and leaflets about next season's programme of events. Many thanks go to the slick team who erected the tent and took it back down again so efficiently!
AYOT ST LAWRENCE ART SHOW - 15-17 JUNE
A number of our members have artworks in this charming art exhibition set in the elegant church in the village. Here is the link to the art show's website for details.
CULTIVATE ARTS FESTIVAL: 23 - 30 JUNE
A programme of concerts, art and photography exhibitions, art installations and workshops to celebrate the creative arts are being held in various venues around Harpenden. The theme this year is Generosity and almost all events are free to go to. A number of HAC members are involved in creating these events. More information can be found on their website:
